Company Overview
Mike Dolan, President and CEO of ZedZone.com, worked as CTO of financial market analysis firm Briefing.com for 10 years before returning to school at the University of Chicago to study philosophy, physics, and mathematics. It was during this transition that Dolan recognized the need for a website that would allow users to define their own communities. Dolan saw that websites on the Internet were defining communities for people by providing websites dedicated to particular locales or interests, or by using virtual social networks that resulted in rather arbitrary communities. He wanted to provide users with a flexible, powerful, and easy-to-use platform on which they could define their communities for themselves. He envisioned users being able to instantly create a community website called a "CommZone" that would come loaded with powerful functionality (including Forum, Calendar, ToDo, Contacts, Notes, Wiki, Album, and Mail) and be easily and extensively customized, privatized, and personalized to the needs of the community served by the CommZone.
At the same time, Dolan saw that people (including himself) were tied to their desktop computers or laptops, and their software applications, for accessing and managing their personal information. He decided that ZedZone would provide users with the ability to manage all of their personal information (through functions including Calendar, Contacts, ToDo, and Notes) online, as well as efficiently stay up-to-date on activity in all of the CommZones they were interested in (by providing users with the ability to Subscribe to CommZones) using their own personal website called "My ZedZone".
ZedZone enables its users to create and use CommZones, access their personal information online, and manage both their personal information and their CommZone activity from one place, My ZedZone.
